Adult Programs at the Urbandale Library
The Urbandale Library offers several adult programs each year. These enlightening programs and classes are always free to attend and include a diverse range of fascinating topics. GAME ON! TEEN VIDEO GAME NIGHT
Friday, July 17th from 6pm-9pm.
Teen Video Game Night is growing at the Urbandale Library and now includes four separate game system stations. Join a band and rock out with your friends on one of the music/rhythm games, test your hand at one of the new Wii™ games, or jump on one of the library’s computers and play against others on the network. Exclusively for teens age 13-17! Please register by Thursday, July 16th.

UPCOMING PROGRAMS

he Urbandale Library has some exciting new programs lined up for this fall and some of the old favorites too! Coming this fall…

  • August 9th - Welcome to Medicare. This program is a must for those who are seeking more information on the Medicare program. For more information check out SHIIP’s website at www.shiip.state.ia.us.
  • September 26th – Being Frugal with local author Trent Hamm. Trent learned how to dig himself out of debt the hard way several years ago and now he will share his money saving tips with you at this highly anticipated program. Trent has a nationally recognized blog and wrote the book “365 Ways to Live Cheap”.
  • October 17th – Paranormal Investigation. Have you ever been curious about the paranormal? The Supernatural Research Society of Iowa (SRSOI) will be on hand to talk about their investigations at this program and may even help you better understand some mysterious happenings in your own life.
  • November 14th – Cuisine at Home with Carlos Acevedo. A crowd favorite from last year is returning to do another Thanksgiving cooking program. Last year focused on the turkey, this year you will learn about new and interesting sides to serve at your holiday meal.

On the Same Page
On the Same Page, the evening book discussion group, meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:30pm in the library Conference Room. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, July 15th at 7:30pm. The group will discuss The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer & Annie Barrows. Brown Bag Book Club
The Brown Bag Book Club meets at lunch time on the last Thursday of the month from noon to 1:00pm in Meeting Room A of the library. The next meeting will be on Thursday, June 25th at 12 noon. The group will discuss Painted Veil by W. Somerset Maugham.
