Plug-in/Wireless Internet Access DHCP Procedure(Windows 2000)
- Select “Start” , “Settings”
- Select “Network and Dial-up Connections”
- Select “Local Area Connections Icon”
- Click on “Properties”
- Highlight “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)”
- Click on “Properties”
- Click on “Obtain an IP address automatically”
- Click on “Obtain DNS server address automatically”
- Click on OK and close all windows by clicking OK
- The IP address may need to be changed if one is already retained on your computer. (see directions below)
- Restart the computer and access the Internet.
To release and renew IP addresses:
You must have administrative rights to your computer to release or renew your IP address.
- Go to a command prompt. (click “start” and choose “run”)
- In the “open” line, type “command”. A black box will open with a command prompt inside it.
- At the command prompt, type: Ipconfig /release -A notice should say the address has been released.
- At the command prompt, type: Ipconfig /renew
After a brief time, you should be notified that a new IP number is associated with your NIC card and you should be able to access the network.
