NEW LIBRARY DIRECTOR
KATHERINE MANION
 My
name is Katherine Manion and I am so excited to be the new
Director of the Urbandale Public Library. I am originally
from Louisiana and received my Master’s Degree in Library
Science from the University of North Texas. My husband and I
moved to Iowa in 2005, and I worked for the Des Moines
Public Library for four years. I have been working in
libraries for seven years in various departments, including
circulation, cataloging, acquisitions, reference, and
management. We moved to Urbandale in April and have enjoyed
getting to know the community. The Urbandale Public Library
is beautiful and I feel very fortunate that I get to work
with such a competent and welcoming staff. If you have any

On the Same Page
On the Same Page, the evening book discussion group, meets
on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:30pm in the library
Conference Room. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, July
15 at 7:30pm. The group will discuss The
Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary
Ann Shaffer & Annie Barrows. Pick up a copy at the library Circulation Desk while supplies last. For

Brown Bag Book Club
The Brown Bag Book Club meets at lunch time on the last
Thursday of the month from noon to 1:00pm in Meeting Room A
of the library. The next meeting will be on Thursday,
July 30 at 12 noon. The group will discuss
American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld.
