Place Holds Online
Patrons with a valid library card may place a hold (reserve) on an item from any library service desk, by telephone (515-278-3945, option 3) or from the library online catalog.To place a hold online, search the library online catalog for the item. Click on the “Details/Hold” button on the left side of the item record. Click on the “Place Hold” link on the left hand side of the screen.
Enter your library card number and birth date and click on the “Place Hold” button. You will be notified via phone or e-mail when a hold is available. Holds will be kept for 3 days at the front circulation desk.
Cancel Holds
You can cancel a hold by calling the Library at 515-278-3945 option 3 or by accessing the My Account feature of the library online catalog. To cancel a hold online, click on My Account. Go into “Review My Account” and login using your library card barcode and birth date. Under your holds list, place a check mark in the box of the hold(s) you would like to cancel and then click on the “Cancel selected holds” button. Click on “OK.”Suspend Holds
If you are going on vacation, have a family crisis, or know you are just too busy to get to the materials you have on your hold list you can also suspend a hold in the My Account area of the library online catalog. Go into “Review My Account” and login using your library card barcode and birth date. This allows you to select a range of dates during which you do NOT wish to pick up a hold. You will remain in queue for the hold, and not be put back to the end of the wait list.Under your holds list, click “Edit Hold” and insert the date you want the suspension to start. Next enter the date you want the suspension to end. You can also call the library at 278-3945 option 3 or stop at a service desk and library staff will help you. You will be notified via e-mail or phone when the item is available for you to pick up.
