Youth Programs
Ø Programs are offered for children ages 12 months and older.
Ø All story times include age appropriate stories, fingerplays, and interactive activities.
Ø All other programs are literacy based.
Ø An adult is required to stay with children attending Book Babies and Toddler Time. An adult bringing children for all other programs is required to stay in the building and may sit in if that makes the child more comfortable.
Ø A brief description of programs with ages and dates follows. Registration for programs opens one week before the event.
Please check with the youth services department for specific dates and times.
Toddler Time: For children age 2 with an adult. This program lasts approximately 20 minutes and is offered from September – Thanksgiving and January - May.
Tuesday and Friday at 9:30 a.m.
Story Time: For children age 3 – 6. This program lasts approximately 30 minutes and is offered from September – Thanksgiving and January - May. A 6 – 8 week session is also offered during the summer.
Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m.
Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Book Babies: For children age 12 – 24 months with an adult. This 15 – 20 minute program introduces babies to literature and models story-telling techniques for parents. Included are songs, fingerplays, and simple stories. This program is offered fall and spring. Please check with the Youth Services Desk for specific dates.
Registration is required as space is limited.

Family Story Time: Drop in story time for families with children age 2 and older. Pajamas are welcome. This program lasts approximately 20 – 30 minutes.

Explorers Club: For children kindergarten and older. Do you wonder how or why things happen? Children are invited to investigate science concepts with simple hands-on experiments.
Registration is requested.
Third Monday
4:30 p.m.
Lunch Bunch: Daytime book discussion group for children age 3rd – 5th grade. Light lunch will be available from Mustards at Chapters. Age appropriate literacy activities are included.
First Thursday during school year
12:00 Noon
Science Sleuths, Jr.: This hands-on science program is designed for kids ages 3 – 6. We will explore simple scientific principles and maybe do a craft.
Registration is requested.
