Does the library have Accelerated Reader (AR) lists?
Yes, we have AR lists for the following schools:
- Holy Trinity
- Horizon Elementary School
- Johnston Middle School
- Lawson Elementary School
- Sacred Heart
- St. Pius X
- St. Theresa
- Urbandale Middle School
- Waukee Middle School
- Woodward-Granger Elementary School
Does the library have a Dowling RAC list?
Yes.

Can I bring my students to the library?
Yes, Youth Services staff are glad to accomodate visits to the library or would also visit individual classrooms. Please contact us at youthservices@urbandale.org or 515-331-4490 to make arrangements.

Are adults required to stay with children during programs?
An adult is required to stay with children under 3 years of age during Book Babies and Toddler Time. For children 3 - 6, adults are required to stay in the building and may sit in on the program if their child would be more comfortable.

Does the library offer babysitting classes?
No, the library does not offer babysitting classes. Please contact the Urbandale Parks and Recreation Department to learn more about their babysitting course at 515-278-3963.

Does the library have games for children on the computers?
No, however, parents may access the Internet if they know of suitable game sites.

Can a librarian visit my school or classroom?
Yes. Please contact us at youthservices@urbandale.org to make arrangements.

How do you sign up for children's programs?
Sign up is available three ways. Patrons may sign up in person at the youth services desk, by phone at 515-331-4490, or by e-mail to youthservices@urbandale.org.
