How do I

Rules for Summer Reading

Sign up for all reading clubs must be done in person.

Readers are responsible for keeping track of their reading log.

Since one of the goals of summer reading is to stretch reader’s vocabulary, it is important that children read books which are at or even a little beyond their reading level.

Encourage your child to read out of their comfort zone.  The reading logs offered by the youth services department suggest different genres to facilitate this.  However, it is not mandatory to follow all of the suggestions.  The reading is what is important.

We are promoting use of books from the Urbandale Public Library.  To be counted, please use books which have been read after June 1, 2008.

Participant must be present to receive prizes on completion of their reading goals.

Prizes will be awarded as supplies last.

For more information, please contact us by calling 515-331-4490 or emailing us at youthservices@urbandale.org.
