FALL PROGRAMS RESUME
Fall leaves will soon be blazing! Once the older kids are back in school,
the little ones can participate in their own literacy based activities. Our
programs offer an opportunity for children to learn social interaction and
increase their vocabulary and listening skills. Youth services staff offer
modeling techniques for reading with children at home. It also is a great
way for parents to network. All regular preschool story times will resume
on September 7 and continue through November 19. Registration is not
necessary. Drop-in and give us a try! Don’t forget all library programs
are free of charge. For more information please call 331-4490.
Toddler Time for age 2 with an adult will be held on Tuesday and Friday at 9:30 a.m.

LUNCH BUNCH
This year will begin with Leepike Ridge, a children's novel by
N.D. Wilson.
Eleven-year-old Thomas Hammond is in for the ride of his life when he's
swept downstream and underground aboard a crumbling raft of Styrofoam.
Washing up on a dark subterranean "beach," his only companions are an
impulsive dog named Argus and a body, from which he takes a flashlight and
an all-too-limited supply of batteries. What Tom finds under Leepike Ridge—a
castaway, four graves, a tomb, and buried treasure—will answer questions he
hadn't known to ask and change his life forever. Now, if he can only find
his way home again. . . .To
learn about the author and this book check out
http://ndwilson.com/. N.D. Wilson is also the author of the 100
Cupboards series. Readers in 3rd – 5th grades can
join Mary on Thursday, September 2 from 12 – 1 pm. Lunch will be available
for ordering from Chapters. To make reservations, please contact the YS
Desk

ATTENTION COLLEGE BOUND STUDENTS
The office of Federal Student aid, U.S. Department of Education, has issued
a new brochure, College Preparation Checklist. The list is greatly
expanded from the previous version. This small booklet explains how to
prepare academically and financially for college through “to do” lists aimed
at elementary and secondary school students and their parents, as well as
adult students. Simply worded information about federal aid, what to do at
FAFSA filing time, and looking for scholarships also is included.
Readers are directed to publications and Web sites for more detailed
discussions of the topics in the checklist. Access this brochure
