We really count on our volunteers. They perform jobs and tasks that are vital to the everyday operation of the library. If you’re interested in volunteering, we’d love to hear from you.
Most positions require a weekday commitment of 1-2 hours per week; though volunteers may choose to work longer hours. Volunteers are not scheduled on evenings and weekends. A very limited number of hours and positions are available for high school students needing volunteer hours for service projects.
Volunteer work varies, but usually consists of the same task each time you come in. Here are a few examples of volunteer responsibilites…
- Volunteers in the service department might be asked to shelve movies or books. Other volunteers may be asked to straighten shelves.
- Collection volunteers handle the processing of all new books. This includes covering and stamping the new materials.
- The ILL (Interlibrary Loan) department uses volunteers to package and prepare items for mailing.
In other words, our volunteers help out in many ways. Some even work in more than one area.
