We really count on our volunteers. They perform jobs and tasks that are vital to the everyday operation of the library. If you’re interested in volunteering, we’d love to hear from you.
Most positions require a weekday commitment of 1-2 hours per week; though volunteers may choose to work longer hours. Volunteers are not scheduled on evenings and weekends. A very limited number of hours and positions are available for high school students needing volunteer hours for service projects.
Volunteer work varies, but usually consists of the same task each time you come in. Here are a few examples of volunteer responsibilites…
- Volunteers in Circulation might be asked to shelve movies or books. Other volunteers may be asked to straighten shelves.
- Our Administrative Assistant requires reliable people to help her maintain the magazine collection – shelving new magazines and pulling old ones is a never ending job.
- Technical Services volunteers handle the processing of all new books - this includes covering and stamping the new materials.
- The Delinquencies Department uses volunteers for typing and filing.
In other words, our volunteers help out in many ways. Some even work in more than one area.
