All aboard!  Join us this month for a variety of train-related events for all ages.

 

Model Train Display, Nov 17 & 18

Sat:  9:00 AM-6:00 PM  Sun: 1:00-4:00 PM 

Members of the DesMoiNTrak model railroad club will share their collections in a special display!  Learn about the history of railroads, their importance today, and the enjoyment train modeling has to offer. For all ages!

 

 

Grass Between the Rails, Nov. 17, 11:00 AM

Join local historian Denny Rehder and celebrate Iowa’s railroad heritage through a blend of stories and original folk songs about the development of railroads in Iowa.  For all ages, no registration.

November Movies for Adults

This month, we’re featuring films on “track” with our trains and railroads theme!

Friday Flicks – Fridays, 1:00 PM

Nov. 2:  Strangers on a Train – PG, 101 min., 1951.   A psychotic socialite attempts to force a professional tennis star to prove a theory that two complete strangers can get away with

murder.  Directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

Nov. 9:  The Girl on the Train – R, 112 min., 2016.  A divorcee becomes entangled in a missing persons investigation that promises to send shockwaves throughout her life.

Nov. 16:   The Great Train Robbery – PG, 110 min., 1979.  In Victorian England, a master criminal makes elaborate plans to steal a shipment of gold from a moving train. Starring Sean Connery, Donald Sutherland, and Leslie Anne-Down.  

Nov. 30:  The Polar Express – G, 100min., 2004.  On Christmas Eve, a young boy embarks on a magical adventure to the North Pole on the Polar Express, while learning about friendship, bravery, and the spirit of Christmas.
