Downloadable Books Notice
Changes to the WILBOR/Overdrive downloadable books service
Effective July 1, 2012
WILBOR access with an Urbandale Public Library card will be restricted to Urbandale residents, Windsor Heights residents, and rural Polk County residents only.
The Urbandale Public Library, along with libraries all over the state, has recently been informed that we are violating the terms of our agreement for access to downloadable content available through WILBOR/OverDrive. Our agreement with OverDrive includes this statement, “The Library agrees to make this service available only to residents of its own city, rural residents of its own county, and/or residents of contracting cities. Open Access customers are not eligible for this service.”
- Effective July 1st, borrowers in surrounding communities (through the Open Access program), will no longer be able to download audiobooks and eBooks from WILBOR with an Urbandale Public Library card.
- The service will only be accessible with an Urbandale Public Library card for Urbandale residents, Windsor Heights residents, and rural Polk County residents.
PLEASE NOTE: If you have enjoyed this service but are not a resident of Urbandale, Windsor Heights, or rural Polk County, you may still be able to continue using this service through your local library if they participate in WILBOR/Overdrive or another similar service.
We regret the inconvenience that this will cause many of our patrons. If you have any questions or want to check if another area library offers this service, please feel free to contact us.
