Check out our spring break programs for kids and teens, all with an emphasis on science, technology, engineering, art, and math concepts!     Please note that some of the programs require pre-registration.

For Kids

STEM Saves the Day  – March 12, 10:00 AM.

Meet the heroes of the Urbandale Fire Department, and learn how they use Science, Technology, Engineering and Math to keep us safe.  All ages.


Kitchen Science – March 12, 6:00 PM.

Survival Science: Bridge Out – March 13, 2:00 PM.

The bridge has been washed away. Can you save the day?  Children will work with their adults to complete engineering challenges using everyday objects.  All ages.  Please register online or by calling 515-278-3945.

 

 

Reptiles of Iowa – March 14, 11:00 AM.

Learn about Iowa’s reptiles with a Polk County Conservation Naturalist. This program will feature live reptiles.  All ages.  Click here to learn more about Polk County Conservation and they work they do.

 

CreatorSpace Terrariums – March 15, 6:00 PM.

Make a green, whimsical world for your favorite fantasy character!  Bring your own mini figure.  We’ll provide everything else you need to create your own terrarium.  All ages.  Please register online or by calling 515-278-3945.

 

Rise and Shine – March 16, 10:00 AM.  

A music and movement program for the preschool set!  Adults should plan on participating with their child.  Please register each child who will participate.  For ages 2-7, siblings welcome!

Join Sarah Uthoff, a respected authority on Laura Ingalls Wilder, as she mixes stories and information about the late author’s life with food history and hands-on cooking. All ages.

 

Just For Teens

Teen Chopped Challenge: Pizza Edition – March 9, 1:00 PM.

 

Teams of 3-5 will compete in 3 rounds of pizza-making mayhem. Natural Grocers will be on-hand to provide supplies and cooking expertise. Form your own team or be paired up at the event.  Ages 12-17 only.  Please register online or by calling 515-278-3945.

 

Teen Texting Movie: Suicide Squad (Rated PG-13) – March 13, 6:00 PM.

Teen Mini Mechanical Marvels – March 15, 2:00 PM.
