Game On

Thursday, June 20th and June 27th in the Story Room
Drop in from 2:00 to 4:00 pm for ages ten years and up. Summer afternoons can be hot. If you need to beat the heat, drop by the Urbandale Public Library and play board games and video games. No registration

Teen Craft Makerspace

Thursday, June 20th and June 27th
Drop-in from 2:00 to 4:00 pm by the south wall of the Library for teens age 13 to 17 years. Create fun and unique items this summer in the teen makerspace. Each week the area will be set up with supplies to create a new craft project. It will be up to you to take the materials and design your own work of art. No registration.

Geocaching 101

Tuesday, June 18 from 10:30 to 11:15 am in Meeting Rooms A/B
Kids age 10 years and up can go on a high-tech scavenger hunt with a Polk County Conservation naturalist. Learn the basics of using a GPS and try finding several geocaches hidden just for you on the grounds of the Urbandale Public Library. Registration is required, call 331-4490.

Altered Books

Wednesday, June 19, 6:30 to 8:00 pm in the ICN Room
For ages 13 years and up. Let your creative side shine by changing an ordinary book into a work of art. What’s an altered book? Sam Erwin, art facilitator will help you take an unwanted book and use it as your canvas. Draw, collage, color, write . . . do anything you like. Registration is required, call 331-4490.

Teen Book Group

Wednesday, June 26, 1:00 to 2:00 pm in the ICN Room
Ages 13 to 17 years This summer’s teen book group will feature four fantastic reads: Cinder, Every Day, Grave Mercy, and I Am Number Four. How it works: Come to the library and choose the book you would like to read. Then come to the book discussion, and let us know your thoughts. After each book discussion you will be able to swap books and start a whole new adventure.

LEGO Robotics

Thursday, June 27, 7:00 -8:00 pm in the ICN Room
Come join members of the First Lego League for a hands-on experience building, programming and operating a robot. Tweens and teens ages 12-17 years will learn skills that promote problem solving, teamwork, and creativity while having fun. Registration is required, call 331-4490.
