Kids can electrify their minds and power up with books during the Library summer reading program! Children age 12 months to 17 years, are invited to have a blast exploring the library’s collection and enjoying the many free, summer programs.

Summer reading helps kids avoid the “summer slide” by maintaining their reading and writing skills. It’s easy and fun to complete the reading and activity logs and kids love the prizes.

The first segment of the Fizz Boom Read program begins on Sunday, June 1st and ends on Saturday, June 28th. The second segment begins on Sunday, July 6th and ends on Saturday, August 2nd. Kids can participate in either one or both of the segments.



Teen Movie Release Party

Saturday, August 9th from 6:30 to 10:30 pm
Teens age 13 to 18 are invited to come to this after hours party. We will be showing a movie about a girl named Tris and her life in world divided by factions based on virtues. There will also be faction themed activities, food, and prizes. Bring a friend and come celebrate at the Urbandale Public Library. To register call 331-4490 or email trohe@urbandale.org.

Teen Book Club

Wednesday, August 27th at 6:30 pm
High school students age 14 and up are invited to read and discuss this month’s book. Copies of the book are available at the youth services desk and on Young Adult Kindles. No registration required. Meets at two times in two different venues, every six weeks. Teens also have the option to meet at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, August 27th in the Urbandale High School Media Center. Questions???
