Curbside Pickup Process
If you prefer the weight of a book in your hand to reading an eBook or want to watch a DVD, we can help! You can reserve a limited number of materials online, then schedule a time to pick up those items outside the library. Learn more.
Extended Due Dates & Returning Items
We have again extended the dues dates of all items that were checked out when the Library was closed in mid-March. We have staggered the due dates by your last name so our staff (and our book returns) are not overwhelmed with returned items when we re-open. If possible, please hold onto your materials until the date they are due. No library fines will accrue while the library is closed.
Last name starts with:
- A – D – due dates moved to 6/16/20
- E – H – due dates moved to 6/18/20
- I – L – due dates moved to 6/23/20
- M – P – due dates moved to 6/25/20
- Q – T – due dates moved to 6/30/20
- U – W – due dates moved to 7/1/20
- X – Z – due dates moved to 7/2/20
As a safety precaution, returned items are isolated for at least 3 days before they are checked back in. You can expect a 3-5 day delay from the date you return items to the library to when they are removed from your account. Library staff will backdate the check-in dates to reflect the date the items were returned.
Meeting Room Reservations
We are now taking meeting room reservations for the July 1 – December 31, 2020 period. Meeting planners should review the COVID-19 Precautions – Guidelines for Meeting Room Usage and note that availability is subject to change.
You can use the library from home! We offer a wide range of digital resources, including books, audiobooks, music, magazines and movies. Manage your account and download books, magazines, and more at www.urbandalelibrary.org.

We’re pleased to offer a digital-only access library card for people who currently do not have an Urbandale Public Library Card and are interested in checking out eBooks, e-audiobooks, and other online resources.
