Curbside Pickup

The Library offers on-demand curbside pickup, located on the north side of the building. Curbside pickup is available Monday - Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Friday - Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Once you have received notification that your hold(s) are ready to be picked up, please follow these steps to pick up your item(s):

Pull into the drive-through book drop lane and park near the staff entrance by the book drop.
Call the library (515-278-3945, option 1) to let staff know you have arrived.
If another car arrives while you're waiting, circle the lot to allow people to use the book drop.

Urbandale Public Library offers delivery of materials to adult patrons who are unable to come to the library due to illness, disability, or special circumstances. Learn more about Home Delivery.

Notary Public Service

Notarization is the ‘act of witnessing’ by the Notary Public in accordance with specifications of state law. Notarization involves signed documents and requires the notary to ensure the signer’s identity and willingness to sign. There is no charge to use this service.

After reviewing the Urbandale Notarial Guidelines, please complete the Notary Appointment Request Form to schedule an appointment or call 515-278-3945.

Test Proctoring

Our Reference Desk staff offer test proctoring services for both written and on-line tests. There is no charge for this service, however, any postage and printing fees are the responsibility of the student. Students should notify the Library in advance to arrange a time for the exam. Most exams are taken in a study room or on an Internet terminal near the reference desk.

Whether you’re working on a term paper, making party invitations, or preparing a client presentation, the Library offers a variety of equipment you can use during your visit to our building:

Desktop Computers
Laptops – Internal use only and checks out for four hours. (A valid Urbandale Public Library card is required to check this out.)
Printers – black and white 10¢ per side, color 50¢ per side
Photocopiers – black and white 10¢ per side, color 50¢ per side
Fax Machine – $1.00 per page to send a domestic fax; $5.00 first page to send, $1.00 subsequent pages to send an international fax. Receiving a fax at the library costs $.10 per page.
