Julie Wells – Director

Julie has been the Director of the Urbandale Public Library since June, 2011. Julie’s responsibilities keep her busy, but she loves to get out of her office and find new ways to organize the library. She has been known to transform a boring, cluttered file cabinet into a brilliant plant stand – complete with two beautiful potted plants. It is amazing!

Manion, K

Katherine Manion - Assistant Director/Collection Manager

Katherine worked at the Urbandale Library from 2009 – 2011 and missed it so much that she came back in 2013. Her library super powers include collection development, integrated library system administration, and predicting the most popular new items. Frequently you can find her teaming up with Wonder Woman to save the world (or, at least, the occasional stray dog).

Carmen Epstein – Youth Services Manager

Carmen has done it all at the library…well, almost! Carmen started at the Urbandale Public Library in 2007 as the Adult Services Librarian and later became the Circulation Manager. Now you can find Carmen in the Youth Services area doing story times, making crafts, or helping patrons find the newest Wimpy Kid book.

Julie Finch – Circulation Manager

Julie started here at the library in October, 2011. She is our magician. She doesn’t really do magic (though she’s a huge Harry Potter fan) but she does magically keep all of the desks staffed and makes sure the materials get out on the shelf.

Bauer, J

Janine Bauer – Community Manager

Janine has been a part of the Urbandale Public Library since 2008. You’ll find Janine facilitating an adult program, putting up signs around the library, or out in the community representing the library. Janine’s favorite things to do are plan the annual Urbandale Library Pet Show and help Superman save the world.

Jeanette Andrews – Reference Services Librarian

Jeanette started at the Urbandale Library in the old library building in 1991 but left a couple of years later. She came back (they always do) in the summer of 2000, just as the new building was opening. She jumped right in and made our Reference Department one of the greatest information hubs in the area. You can’t stump Jeanette…go ahead and ask her a difficult reference question. She’ll either know the answer off the top of her head or know just where to go to find it!

Karen Smith – Collection Specialist

Karen has been with the library since 2001. You can always find her cataloging materials in her office…or out rescuing a stray kitten somewhere (she loves cats!).
